WHO WE ARE
We are a local initiative led by representatives in government, faith-based organizations, businesses, and non-government organizations. Initially this began with the Town of Waterloo, New Hope Christian Center, and Learning Link, an education initiative of Community Foundation DeKalb County, but has grown to include many other voices.
Our Goal
Frankly, our goal is to end poverty…but it’s going to take ALL of us, working together, to make that a reality! We are taking a cross-sector, county-wide approach to network and educate leaders about poverty issues in DeKalb County. But, we won’t stop there! Through collaboration and innovation, we plan to create new approaches so that each of our organizations can effectively target and end the cycle of poverty.
Our Strategy
It’s hard to understand the culture of poverty through middle or upper-class tinted lenses. Using the wonderfully disruptive work of Dr. Ruby Payne, we believe we can transform lives, families, and communities to end the cycle of poverty through systems that help us navigate the “hidden cultural rules” of generational poverty.

WE DON’T JUST WANT TO ALLEVIATE POVERTY, WE WANT TO HELP PEOPLE OUT OF IT.
WE DON’T STAND A CHANCE UNLESS WE UNDERSTAND IT.
